It's time again for the Monthly Wishlist! Here's the ONE project that each TBA agent
would love to see in their submission inbox. If you have something that fits
with the below, please check out our submission guidelines and send it over. We
can't wait to read!
Animals and anthropomorphic characters—I love stories
with either animals as the main character, or with a close bond
with a child. Examples: PAX, A DOG CALLED HOMELESS, THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN. Or
what about historical fiction seen through the eyes of an animal—major events
in history with a dog or cat or pig or...etc. -- Gemma Cooper
I’m looking for hooky MG or YA that’s set in this world,
but has some magical/fantastical element to the story. Think David Levithan’s EVERDAY or BEFORE I FALL
by Lauren Oliver. Definitely want
romance, but other elements too: this could be a friendship or sibling story,
or mother-daughter relationships, etc. -- Susan Hawk
Strong emotional bookclub fiction with a high concept
pitch. Put #bookclub in subject line and all queries will be considered
even though I am closed. – Jenny Bent
Character-driven YA fantasy with vivid worldbuilding and
twisty political intrigue, please! – Molly Hawn
YA version of The History Channel’s VIKINGS; battle-ax
boys and warrior girls - with clan dynamics, raiding, warfare, and religion. –
Heather Flaherty
Something set in or around a small town funeral home.
Think MY GIRL for teens.
And fiction or non-fiction about a nanny/governess/tutor
or a nanny squad. – Louise Fury
A literary collection of love stories like the ones found
in the Modern Love podcast. Aziz's MODERN ROMANCE meets Emma Straub's OTHER
PEOPLE WE MARRIED. – Victoria Lowes
